About the Brand

Showcasing the beers of the owners’ brewery, The Local Public House is a tap room and restaurant in Bellingham, WA, with a focus on sharing a love of local PNW craft through beers, food and hand-crafted interior design.

Their extremely knowledgeable staff foster strong community by educating new patrons and regulars alike about their 28 rotating taps and local-focused menu.

The Challenge

  • While the Local had created a beautiful people-first space, they had a somewhat outdated logo and no consistent visual identity system.
  • Margins in restaurants are low which translates to a low budget for creative and marketing work.
  • Wanting to leverage the existing brand equity to maintain clientele while attracting new patrons
Strategy

Evolve existing visual identity of The Local Public House to highlight the business’s values of community and craft, while maintaining the original brand equity and playing to the strengths of the owners’ DIY spirit.

The Solution

  • Orchestrated brand workshop with 5 stakeholders of the business to align perspectives and establish the brand’s path forward
  • Developed and applied a cohesive visual identity that embodied craft and the community spirit that The Local was known for while also keeping an approachable vibe.
  • Visual Identity system inspired by the warm, rustic, industrial decor of the space, but also the attention to detail, craft, semi-upscaleness of the food and beer program.
